  • About 60 million Americans have fallen victim to scams in the past year.
  • In this day young adults are 34 % more likely to lose money to scams than seniors
  • Amount of scams fallen for have increased by 34% in the past year.
  • Technology is used every step of the day, from cooking to living in a house and contacting any friends and family. People rely on it nonstop, and it has been used ever since it was created. It is used in all jobs and work fields to advance time and has better efficiency.
  • Phishing attacks are challenging to prevent.
  • The Illegal hackers are just as good as the people who set up the security or are working to keep others out.
  • Hackers have a success rate that has been growing and is at 32%, up 11% from the previous year.
  • Only 4 to 5% of hackers are ever caught for their crimes.

  • We rely on technology to get us through day-to-day tasks. Cars use a lot of technology, and they allow us to get to places, which is important. Houses keep us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Then there are phones and computers which just about every American owns. These are the things that we use to send emails, text, call, handle bank and financial stuff, search the internet, and plan trips.
  • Hackers stole over one billion dollars in the past year.
  • There are also billions of records stolen each year and that has been increasing for as long as scams started.
  • Over 353 million individuals were impacted within the US in 2023.
  • Hackers are constantly working to infiltrate systems and get into hardware.
  • They have websites and automated emails, phone calls, and messages constantly being sent out to everyone's phones.
  • 1 in 5 Americans have experienced identity theft in their lifetime.

  • Some lose money and struggle to pay bills and put food on the table, as over 16 billion dollars was taken from identity theft victims in 2021.
  • In the 1960's internet was created and made a major breakthrough.
  • Then, in 1973, came the first cellphone, and it was a big new invention from the regular house phones.
  • In 1981, the first laptop was invented, which allowed for easier access to the internet.
  • Now there are electric cars being made and so many more inventions starting up.
  • These are all good until people use them in a bad way and take advantage of them.
  • All these new inventions give hackers more opportunities to get into all our devices.
