Active communication requires active listening. If you don't know how to listen, you cannot be attentive to the needs of your followers, and communication becomes lost.

Lets put it to Practice

What is your Favorite Flavor of Ice Cream?

03

I scream, You scream!

In this activity you will practice active listening and proper communication with a partner. One person will ask questions and the other person will answer the questions that are asked. The goal here is to learn something new about your partner not related to the original question which is "What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?"

What Have We Learned?

Leadership an Communication go hand in hand

  • To be a good leader you need to know your leadership style
  • Being able to follow is an underappreciated form of leadership
  • Leadership in the classroom starts by creating a healthy learning environment
  • With proper communication skills people will naturally want to follow you
  • Good communication builds trust
  • Listening to understand is more important than listening to respond

Opportunities For Growth

Opportunities for continual growth are available for learners after the session. These opportunities include: Peer observations where lessons are recorded and the teachers can sit down with mentors and watch the playback while receiving feedback on what they did well in their leadership and areas they can improve Inquiry groups shall be created where educators of similar roles shall get together and analyze, discuss and reflect on various case studies

I need your Feedback!
