Gregory Pincus begins a drug trial in Puerto Rico for an oral contraceptive with hidden intentions
Law's were put into place pertaining to human expiriments in order to protect participants
As many as 53 sterilization clinics are opened which perform countless hysterectomies without proper informed consent
“every proposal/project for medical research on human subjects must be approved by a competent body after independent examination of its scientific merit and review of its ethical acceptability.” (Negri, 2017, p. 8).
Gregory Pincus
Gregory Pincus began the drug trial with the belief that the people of Puerto Rico of lesser value and inteligence because of the poverty. He used the pill in attempts to decline the population as much as possible as a result of these beliefs.
Betrayed Trust
The women were led to believe that their best interest was in mind but this was far from the truth. Pincus started to think that the pill was not breaking down the population quick enough so he began recommeding unnecessary medical procedures.
Despite these malicious events, the people of Puerto Rico still continue to thrive and pass down their rich culture through generations.
