Early Childhood Education
MEXICO
In 2002, Mexico became the 1st country to make preschool mandatory. A lot of parents, however, still do not send their kids to school until Kindergarten.
Ages 3-5
Grades include: Preschool Pre-Kindergarten Kindergarten
Pre-School Options
Called Kindergaten or Kinder all 3 years, even though Pre-School and Pre-K are also included.
- Traditional Preschool Approach
- Guarderias/Daycare
Educational Approaches:
- Hands-On Learning/Focus on fine-motor skills
- Play/Gross Motor Skills
Standout Approaches the U.S. should adopt
Half-day of school: Yes, some pre-schools in the U.S. already have a half-day. However, that is not the case for many schools. Half-day school days in the U.S. would be beneficial for kids, because kids are not machines. They need to live out their childhood and have lots of extra playtime outside of the school environment.
