Who is Albert Bandura?
Albert Bandura was a psychologist who was best known for the social learning theory. Which emphasizes the importance of observational learning. One of his famous experiments he conduct was the doll experiment.
What is the Social Learning Theory?
Social learning Theory is described as the bridge between traditional learning and the cognitive approach. Therefore Albert Bandura suggests that people learn through observations and imitating others. Example: One example is tenancies that kids pick up from their parents like slang social skills etc.
What are the Mediational Processes?
2Retention
Attention
This process talks about after you observed you must be able to take in what you saw in your memory to reproduce it.
This process refers to how the observer must observe the model's behavior to learn from it.
4Motivation
3Motor Reproduction
Finally, once all three of those processes are done you must feel some desire to accomplishment the task because that's how to imitate behaviors that seem rewarding.
After the first two processes are observed and engraved in you're memory. You must reassess if you have the physical and mental ability to complete the task.
This experiment went underway to investigate the role of observational learning and aggression in children. They had two different groups and one group of kids would not be aggressive when they got mad. However, the other group did and what they observed is that the kids would mimic what the adults did.
4 :Understanding aggression and violence in media
Some ways we can understand the Bandura concept in this day in age with media is how influencers can change our perceptions and actions based on what we see them do.
5 : How does Social learning theory come across in the virtual world?
IIt comes across in the virtual world because it gives people the opportunity to provide online videos to learn and acquire new skills.
6: What are the limitations of The Learning Theory?
The social learning theory has many upsides to it. However, Some drawbacks include how some people may not have different social norms. For example, people bowing to greet someone in the USA may come across as overformal or confuse people. On the other hand, if you don't bow in an Asian country it may come across as disrespectful.
8: Reflect on Albert BAndura legacy in psychology
Alberts legacy in psychology is known as groundbreaking as he is a big reason why we understand human behavior and have such a theory as the social learning theory
