LONDON here we come!

The Shard

The beautiful Tower Bridge was built in the late 1800s and it crosses the River Thames. There are two parts to the bridge: the bottom part can lift up to let boats go through. You can walk across the top part and enjoy amazing views!

The Shard is 310 meters high and it has 87 floors; it is the tallest building in the UK and in Europe. It has 11,000 glass panels on the outside. Architect Renzo Piano designed it in 2009. During construction, a fox lived into the Shard, it was called Romeo.

The River Thames runs through the heart of London. At 215 miles, it’s the longest river in England and the second longest in the United Kingdom. It’s home to 125 different types of fish and even a whale was once spotted! To protect London from flooding, the Thames Barrier was built. It creates a solid steel wall that stops water from flowing toward the city.

The majestic Tower of London is over 900 years old. It has been a royal palace, a prison, a zoo and even a mint (place where money is made). Today it is a tourist attraction ad a museum where you can admire the Crown Jewels. The Guards of the Tower are called Yeoman Warders, but people call them Beefeaters. A superstion says there must always be at least six ravens at the Tower of London… or it will fall down!
