The design of the temple was carried out by the Catalan architect Mr. Manuel Vega y March, a disciple of Gaudí, a member of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Saint George (1913), and director of the School of Fine Arts of Barcelona (1920-1931).
Conceived in a style that he himself defined as "Ogival," based on the baroque nature of the late European Gothic, characterized by windows and doors in the shape of an ogive (pointed arch).
The triforium stands out for the beauty of its stained-glass windows, rose windows, and windows, totaling 46 multicolored modules. The stained-glass windows have been hand-painted and baked at high temperatures.

This Christ replaced the Christ of the Vera Cruz on this altar, a work created in 1643 and attributed to the artist from La Laguna, Domingo Pérez Donis. The Christ of the Vera Cruz was later moved to the Chapel of Solitude in the old temple and is currently in the chapel of the bell tower.
