Put Your Record On

How it all began

Put Your Record On!

The combat disc was technically an optical disc that was formatted by Philips and Sony (Royal Philips Productions) to play digital audio recordings. The first disc was manufactured in 1982 releasing in Japan first, 7 months later in North America. CDs in the USA dramatically changed the scene the year of 1991. Changing musicians' lives as well from Queen, Nirvana and Michael Jackson.

The tea has been spilled

The highs and lows of CDS

Although CDs were very popular in late 90s and early 2000s by the year of 2009. After the Great Recession CDs were 1% APY. Then during the hight of the pendemic COVID-19, CDs terms plunged below 1% APY. As of January 2022 it has then increased back to 1.87% APY

"There's still value in a CD, even if it's just nostalgic. People are still willing to pay. But it can't compare to a digital only release where you can control the exact time that it'll come out, you know what I mean? So whoever finds how to bridge that gap is gonna make a lot of money" J.Cole American rapper & record producer

The Past is Prologue

Although CDs are slowly growing back withing the Gen Z generation. I do feel that a change can be implemented in this digital world. Some individuals want to move on from this iconic era while others find comfort in going back to the past. like buying your first CD. If it was up to me to change this dynamic...I say BRING CDs BACK!!

How this affects electronic media

As of 2022 the process of CDs is still a slow combat due to the higher increased rates. But, CDs can positively affect electronic media by providing better storage, compacity, distribution and longevity to electronic media.

STILL BEST SELLING RECORDS/CDS TO THIS DAY!

THANK YOU!
