Major Categories of Disability
Emotional or Behaviroal Disabilities
Emotional or behavioral disabilities consists of disorders which can cause emotional disturbances which can affect and individuals life beyond an emotional aspect affect the individuals behavior and causes inability to build and maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships and have an adequate social and educational experience at times.
Examples of Emotional/ Behaviroal Disabilites :
- Anxiery disorders
- Eating disorders
- Depression
- Bipolar disorder
- ADHD
Physical Disabilites
Physical disabilities are often the form of disability thought of when hearing the word disabilty often defined by the interantional symbol of access. Physical disabilites are disabilites which affect the phsycial function and movement of an indviduals limbs. Phsycial disabilites can be both temporary or permanent and can affect one or more limbs. Physcial disabilites can be caused by biological or gentic factors as well as by illness or accidents and can at times be caused by other health conditons.
Examples of Pyshical Disabilites:
- Amputations and loss of limbs.
- Arthritis
- Birth defects.
- Cerebral palsy
- Cystic fibrosis
- Epilepsy
Developmental Disabilites
Developmental diabilites are condtions which impare an individuals ability to develope in the physical, learning, language, and behaviroal areas and often occur prior to adulthood. These forms of disability often affect and indivudals ability to nagvigate through everyday society and activites which are often not constructed with them in mind. These forms of disabilites usually last throughout the indviduals lifetime.
Examples of Developmental Disbailites:
- Autism
- Down syndrome
- Fetal alchol syndrome
- Spina bifida
