Craveiro
Morfologia do craveiro
- Planta de 20-80 cm;
- Flores grandes e cheirosas, com bordas irregulares, de várias cores;
- Folhas verde-acinzentadas, compridas, grossas e lineares;
- Cálice cilíndrico de 20-30 mm.
Curiosidades
- O craveiro é nativo da região do Mediterrâneo Oriental.
- Atualmente, conhecem-se mais de 300 espécies de craveiros.
- O cravo pode ter pétalas de várias cores: rosa, vermelho, branco, verde, amarelo e misturas de tonalidades.
- O Cravo é a flor nacional de Espanha e da Comunidade Autónoma das Ilhas Baleares.
- Na Grécia Antiga consideravam os cravos flores divinas.
- Hoje em dia, os cravos são usados para a produção de perfumes e em vários produtos de beleza, como batons e blush.
- O chá de cravo é considerado benéfico para a saúde, sendo utilizado para tratar insónias e combater o stress e a fadiga.
Constituição do Cravo
- Estame: órgão reprodutor masculino. É constituido por antera, onde são produzidos os grãos de pólen, e filete;
- Carpelo: órgão reprodutor feminino. É constituido por estigma, estilete e ovário, onde estão os óvulos;
- Pétala: protege os órgãos reprodutores e atrai polinizadores;
- Sépala: folhas modificadas com função de proteção.
- Pedúnculo: suporte que une a flor ao caule;
- Recetáculo: extremidade do pedúnculo onde se fixam as peças florais.
Os Cravos no 25 de abril
Celeste Caeiro trabalhava no restaurante Franjinhas, que planejava celebrar o seu primeiro aniversário oferecendo cravos aos clientes. No entanto, quando soube da revolução através da rádio, o gerente mandou todos embora e disse para levarem as flores para casa. Pelo caminho, Celeste distribuiu cravos aos soldados, marcando o início do gesto simbólico da revolução.
Função do Cravo na Planta
- O cravo é a flor do craveiro;
- A flor é responsável pela reprodução sexuada da planta;
- A flor possui os órgãos reprodutores masculino (estame) e feminino (carpelo);
- Os órgãos reprodutores produzem as células sexuais;
- A união das células sexuais, na fecundação, origina as sementes que, depois de germinarem, originam novas plantas.
