  • 1998, she was appointed member of the constitutional council
  • 2005 ; calling for a yes vote in the referendum on the draft European constitution
  • 2007 : she ended her political career
  • 2007 : she published her autobiography entitled “Une vie”
  • 2008 : she entered the French Academy
  • 2009 : she was promoted to grand officer of the Legion of Honor

2017Simone Veil died, she is currently resting in the Pantheon
