- Personalized learning - AI can help give quick and effective feedback to your students
- Exciting, engaging instruction - AI can create lessons that get students excited about learning
- Efficiency - AI can help save time with grading, lessons, composing emails, and report card comments
- Data driven insights - AI can quickly interpret data and help you support your students
Pros
- Privacy concerns - if you use AI to help write emails, or comments, you want to use it carefully so you do not provide confidential information. Additionally, the data collected will be used to help support development of AI.
- Bias and fairness - AI algorithms can perpetuate biases, so it is important to keep this in mind and address any biases shown

Experience chat bots
Click on the link below to chat with Chat GPT. Remember that this is a conversational chatbot, so it will respond with thoughtful ideas. Ask it questions about something like a book you read or show you watch. See how it responds. Then take a moment to ask it questions it may struggle to answer. For example, ask it how it's feeling today, or if it worries about anything.
Chat GPT
Integrate discussions about AI ethics and digital literacy into their curriculum to help students become informed and responsible users of technology. Students can explore topics such as bias in AI algorithms, and privacy concerns.
Digital Literacy & Ethical Consideration
Use AI to plan PBL. For example, students could work on AI-related projects such as creating chatbots, creating predictive models for weather forecasting, or building simple machine learning algorithms to analyze data.
Project Based Learning (PBL)
Use AI to take students on virtual field trips to explore distant locations or historical periods. Students can interact with historical figures, explore ancient civilizations, or witness scientific phenomena firsthand.
Virtual Field Trips
Conversational Bots
Conversational AI chatbots refer to technology that can recognize and respond to speech and text inputs. These bots maintain context throughout a conversation, remembering previous interactions and incorporating that information into subsequent responses.
- Chat GPT
- Chat On
- Amazon Alexa
- Apple Siri
- Casper
Scripted Bots
AI bots
Scripted bots use fixed scripts to respond to user input. These bots are designed to help you find answers. Think about if you've ever tried to return something on Amazon, but needed help. You are given a chatbot which asks you a question and somtimes only provides you with two answers. This can become frustrating when you are trying to speak to someone who has answers to your questions.
- Amazon help
- Road Runner Sports chat bot
- Nordstrom chatbot
- These bots give a question and sometimes only have a few answers to click on
Ways to create your own script bot
What are Chatbots?
Chatbots are computer programs designed to simulate human conversation through text or speech-based interactions. They utilize artificial intelligence (AI), natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning algorithms to understand and respond to user queries or commands in a conversational manner. Are you someone who worries that your emails don't feel professional? Well, AI can help you there! Compose an email or give email prompts so that it can generate a professional sounding email for you.
Composing Emails
You can use AI to help create exciting and engaging lessons. MagicSchool.ai is an amazing website that is geared towards teachers and offers endless ideas.
Lesson Planning
Struggling with planning multiple lessons that all include differentiated instruction? You're not alone! Use AI to help differentiate instruction. You can use it to change the level of articles so that every student in your class understands the text
Differentiation
Activity: Begin by explaing to studnets the concept of AI. Define AI as the ability of machines or computer programs to perform tasks that typically require humans (learning, problem-solving, decision making) Engage students in a discussion - students can turn and talk about ways they've encounted AI Students will be split into groups with the materials listed. Students will brainstorm and list as many examples as they can think of where AI is used (healthcare, education, transportation, enteratinments, etc) Students will reserach about AI, and play around with different AI tools. Then they will present about what they've learned. They can choose to use AI to help them present or create a presentation in a way they feel will support their knowledge.
Using Ai in education
Activity with Al
Exploring AI in Everyday Life Objective: Students will understand the concept of AI and identify its potential benefits in various real-world applications Standard: Students will apply technological knowledge and skills to design, construct, use, and evaluate products and systems to satisfy human and environmental needs. Materials: Chromebook/Internet access, papers and pancils or device for note-taking, char paper, markers
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think, learn, and problem-solve like humans. These machines are designed to mimic certain cognitive functions such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, perception, and language understanding (Source: Chat GPT)
Why is AI Important in Education?
Artificial intelligence can be used in endless ways as educators. We can use it to enhance lessons, differentiate instruction, check grammar, create emails and report card comments, and the list goes on and on!
- Quick and effective lesson plans
- Character Building scenarios
- Grammar check
- Tutors for extra help
- Use with any subject

Subject: HistoryActivity: Use AI to learn about history. Depending on the content you are teaching (American Revolution, Civil War, World Wars, etc.) pick a famous person from that time period. Use the website below, Hello History. This is something you can do with your students, but give it a try yourself! Pick a famous person and interact with the chatbot to learn about people in that time period that you are studying. If you choose to do this with your students, you can have them create a presentation to showcase everything they learned.
