Topic: Vietnam DeconolizationPre-WWII, Vietnam, was colonized by France and reffered to as French Indochina -Vietnam wanted independence Thesis: In the 20th century, Vietnam’s decolonization from France deeply changed its political structure by the unification of Vietnam. However, the long-lasting battle for independence primarily caused societal equality reforms and destroyed the industrial sector of its economy, outshining its political changes.

  • Rise of national movements like the Viet Minh under the leader Ho Chi Minh
  • Ho Chi Minh’s declaration of independence from France
  • Merge of Vietnam under communist North Vietnam

Political Effects

  • Enduring political differences, and a still communist Vietnam
  • Changed foreign political views and opinions about Vietnam
  • Still enduring challenges on unity and overall reconciliation of the nation.

  • Damange to transportation networks (affected trade)

  • They have flourishing urban centers yet also have poor and impoverished people in rural areas
