Webinar QuanTIM

Webinars in English, mandatory for the training

Since 2014, SESSTIM has been organising a series of webinar conferences on the theme of Quantitative Methods and Medical Information Processing (QuanTIM). Initially reserved for SESSTIM members and students enrolled in a specialisation of the Master of Public Health under our supervision, these webinars have been open to the public on simple registration since 2017. QuanTIM webinars cover topics related to methodological research or pedagogical aspects in biostatistics, econometrics, clinical and epidemiological research methods, biomedical informatics, e-health, information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, etc.

Post-test

Students will be asked a series of questions at the end of each webinar which will serve as an individual post-webinar evaluation. They will then have 24 hours to answer them. The points they obtain in this way may be taken into account in the final deliberation of the master.

Archives

Speakers’ presentations are recorded, configured and edited in a format suitable for off-line viewing. These videos and their associated resources are then made available on the SESSTIM website and YouTube channel.

Internship organization

Process of preparing, discussing and validating student’s proposal

Preparing for the M2 internship is an important step of the academic year. The internship topic's preparation phase takes place from mid-October to mid-December. During this phase, students will meet with the pedagogical committee, which will provided recommendations on the internship topics. Once the subjects have been prepared, each student will have to present his or her subject to a pedagogical committee. This stage is crucial for the rest of the student's academic year. If the committee rejects the subject, the student's year will be invalidated.

Alumni, map of past internship locations

A map of placements undertaken by former SESSTIM students is available online. Do not hesitate to consult it when preparing your internship.

SESSTIM, ISSPAM, TIGER

Course offered and backed by the internationally recognised SESSTIM research unit, benefiting from the rich and stimulating environment of the Institute of Public Health Sciences (ISSPAM), and the transform and innovate in graduate education with research TIGER’s project.

Competition “My internship in 180 seconds”

For this competition, participating students are tasked to produce a 180-second video presenting the topic of your internship in a brief, relevant and attractive manner. This competition provides interesting training in the popularisation of science. It is also a necessary step in obtaining the "Cum Laude" distinction.

Incoming and outgoing scholarship (MSc AI4PH)

M2 scholarships aimed at students whose academic record shows excellent results and whose personal project is assessed as being of high quality, to provide them with financial support.

MSEC event

Each year we organize an online seminar on the topic of "Opportunities and Challenges of Socioeconomic World in the Field of AI for Public Health". During this seminar, students have the opportunity to discuss in interactive sessions with peers, working professionals and experts from the social and economic ecosystem.

Cum laude

In the framework of the A*Midex Foundation’s Transformation of Training through Research project obtained by the Institute of Public Health Sciences (ISSPAM), the AI4PH specialisation of the Master of Public Health, under the responsibility of SESSTIM, has set up the Cum Laude programme. The Cum Laude Programme distin guishes certain students for their work, commitment and skills based on two elements: “My internship in 180s” competition and the scientific quality of the thesis and the defence of the M2 internship.

ISSPAM events

The Institute of Public Health Sciences regularly organises scientific events open to SESSTIM students. These events are an opportunity for students to interact with members of the scientific community and broaden their field of knowledge. SESSTIM's scientific events are divided into 2 main categories: the Public Health Action Days, which take place over one day and focus on one topic, and the ISSPAM Summer School, which lasts for a total of 10 days.

Social networks

SESSTIM is present on several social networks. A lot of information (videos, job offers, event announcements) is published there throughout the year. SESSTIM is currently present on BlueSky, X, YouTube, LinkedIn with 2 pages: 1 public page and 1 group reserved for members of the AI4PH, MQERS and SPSD Masters. Send a message (with the course you are following) to the SESSTIM communication account to access this group.

Alumni

The graduates of the distance learning courses in Public Health offered by SESSTIM. This is a non-exhaustive list of alumni of our courses (CESU, DU, DESU and DESIU), including our specialisations EISIS, MQERS, SPSD and AI4PH of the Master in Public Health of the University of Aix-Marseille. It is a valuable tool for:

  • Promote, develop and maintain links between former graduates;
  • Access alumni contacts;
  • Follow their careers;
  • Create your own professional network;
  • Learn about possible career paths;
  • Create links between alumni and future graduates;
  • Get to know alumni in your area;
  • You can get expert information on these areas from our local advisers.
Local advisers are alumni. Students and/or prospective students can benefit from their experience of the course they studied. Local advisers can give you practical and organisational advice, inform you about the expectations of teaching committees and tell you how much you need to invest to get the most out of your course.

Digital environment and fully online live courses

Digital Working Environment (ENT) > AMeTICE educational platform > Teaching Units courses

At the beginning of the academic year, each student receives a university email address. This email allows students to access the University of Aix-Marseille's digital environment or ENT. This environment hosts several applications such as the email box and the AMeTICE educational platform. This platform is used to access the different teaching units that will be taught to the students.

Educational resources made available

By accessing the teaching unit on AMeTICE, students will be able to read various educational resources provided by the teachers. Students will also use this platform to upload their homework.

Courses via visioconference: fully online live courses, presence, material, interactions

Each course is delivered live online via Zoom. This format encourages interaction between teacher and students. Attendance at all classes is compulsory. In addition to the lessons, a forum is also available for students. It allows the teacher to post messages for all students. Students can reply and ask questions on each topic posted.
