What is Edpuzzle?
Edpuzzle is a web-based application that allows educators to personalize videos while having the ability to add assessment elements. Users can customize videos by editing, cropping, recording their own audio, and adding quiz questions directly to the video.
Why & How would you use it?
I would use the software as a way to integrate assessments into my lesson plans. It would help differentiate which students are either not paying attention, or displaying which students are not comfortable with the current lesson content. Video lessons could easily become more engaging and interactive.
What is Needed?
The first need for the software is to find a way to acquire it. The software has a free version, but is very limited. For district use, a funding source will have to be obtained. Once obtained, accounts for the students will have to be created. This is usually a simple process since Edpuzzle easily integrates with Classlink and other SSO software. After account creation, the only thing necessary for the web tool is a device to use and an internet connection.
What are Edpuzzle's functions?
- Creates interactive video lesson
- Video/audio editing tools
- Add interactive quiz elements to videos
- Tracking, monitoring, and grading student progress and engagement
