Survival genre + Terror genre. 1st game Resident Evil (1996). Basic elements:
-First, surviving. -Second, the resources management. -Third, the puzzles. -Fourth, the fighting.
USER INTERFACE
The HUD in survival horror is of great importance for the decisions that the player is going to make.
MULTIMEDIA STRUCTURE
Survival horror is different from typical video game genres in that it is not strictly defined by specific mechanics, but rather by theme, tone, pacing, and design philosophy.
TARGET
PEGI over 16 or 18 years old. During the 90s SONY searched for the adult community in gaming. Which wanted harder challenges and more realistic experiences.
Many of the elements that characterize the genre today were designed with this audience in mind (action, combat, gore, and dark aesthetics).
OBJECTIVES
The survival horror genre is also known for other non-combat challenges, such as solving puzzles in certain locations in the video game world and collecting and managing an inventory of items.
TIPES OF MEDIA
Many survival horror video games use warning signs, or other notices to notify the player of imminent danger.

DISTRIBUTION
Like many other genres, Survival Horror had his first and biggest impact on the console market. Nowadays the PC has a stronger and stronger weight in the gaming market. This is accelerating a digitalization process that has been present for years. But the Survival Horror niche, until this days, still enjoys the physic and collector’s editions.
