Introduction

Une partie de la surface de la Terre est éclairée par le Soleil tandis qu'une autre se trouve dans l'obscurité. Comment expliquer l'alternance du jour et de la nuit ? Comment évolue-t-elle lorsqu'on change de saison ?

Problématique 1

La journée commence à l'aube lorsque le soleil se lève, et se termine au crépuscule lorsqu'il se couche. Ce phénomène se reproduit tous les jours, partout sur la Terre mais à des moments différents.

2. Observer

Lorsque la pastille bleue (France) est dans l'axe du soleil, indiquez s'il fait jour ou nuit aux pastilles : bleue - France / jaune - Equateur / verte - Australie. Renouvelez les observations avec les pastilles jaune puis verte orientées dans l'axe du soleil.

3. Schématiser

Sur votre schéma, coloriez en jaune, la zone qui est éclairée sur la Terre et en gris, la zone qui se trouve dans l'obscurité (ombre propre).

4. Interpréter

Répondez à la problématique 1.

Activité 2 - Alternance des saisons

Problématique 2

Quatre saisons se succèdent au cours de l'année : le printemps, l'été, l'automne et l'hiver. En été, le Soleil est haut dans le ciel et le jour est plus long que la nuit, ce qui n'est pas le cas pour les autres saisons.

Pour chacune des positions A, B, C et D, observer la trajectoire de la pastille bleue(France) puis comparer la zone où elle est éclairée à celle où elle est dans l'ombre.

Pour les positions A, et C, colorier les schémas en idiquant en jaune, les zones de jour et en bleu les zones de nuit en France.

4. Interpréter

Compléter le texte de conclusion à l'aide des mots suivants : été, automne, hiver, printemps, longues, courtes, aussi.

Lorsqu'un objet opaque reçoit de la lumière, une partie de l'objet est alors éclairée, tandis qu'une autre ne l'est pas. La zone non éclairée de l'objet s'appelle l'ombre propre. Si on place un écran derrière l'objet, une partie de l'écran ne reçoit pas la lumière. On appelle cette zone l'ombre portée.

1. Placez la source lumineuse et le globe terrestre de manière à ce qu’ils soient bien alignés. 2. Repérez la zone éclairée et la zone à l’ombre. 3. Faites tourner le globe terrestre puis observez les différents points repérés au cours la rotation du globe sur lui-même.
