In the nineties, the Filakov family moved from the city of Osijek to the village of Gajić in the Baranja municipality of Draž, which many consider the pearl of northeastern Baranja. The municipality is bordered on the east by the Danube, on the north by the Hungarian border, and on the south it is surrounded by fairytale vineyards. They started the family business with a few greenhouses, and today they employ 22 people, they withdrew money from European funds, and today the business is run by young brothers Darko (32) and Stipo Filakov (23). They started hydroponic cultivation of tomatoes and peppers in 2006, and were guided through the first steps of such biological cultivation by the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences in Osijek, whose education was extremely important for them to start more serious cultivation. Their vegetables have recently been sold in branded packaging Baranjsko voće and Filakov vegetables, they have become recognizable in retail chains, and customers are already looking for their vegetables.

Practical experiment: The impact of lack of an essential nutrient element Show deficiency of essential nutrients (nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and sulfur (S), chlorine (Cl), boron (B), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn) Discussion with students: Nutrients - what they are and how they help plants How nutrients work The pH value of the nutrient solution can be controlled to ensure optimal nutrient intake.? Why? Why not? Can nutrients help improve plant health and plant growth?

In recent years, we have witnessed a new trend when it comes to agriculture in the former granary of Croatia - Slavonia and Baranja. Practice shows that those producers who realized that it is no longer possible to have large areas on which to grow corn, wheat, barley and similar crops, and who turned to the production of other types of fruits and vegetables, on smaller areas. One such example is the Filakov family from Gajić, which is engaged in hydroponic production. Baranja fruits and vegetables Filakov is a brand created by the Filakov family from the town of Gajić in the municipality of Draž. Today they can boast of a yield of 900 tons of tomatoes and peppers, and the owners Stipo and Darko reveal to us how they succeeded

SREDNJA ŠKOLA DALJ from Croatia visiting FILAKOV family hydroponic farm in Gajić, Baranja's biggest and most successful hydroponic farm in East Croatia. We learned from our own experience and decided that we have to keep up with technologies, so today we can monitor all greenhouse parameters with the help of an application. Due to the biological cultivation of tomatoes, we also have bumblebees in the greenhouse, which come to us from the Netherlands in our beehives. As for the annual yield, we have approximately 900 tons of vegetables per year, which we distribute throughout Croatia. We harvest 20 tons of tomatoes per week, and our main buyer is Stjema Promet from Zagreb, which further distributes them to large retail chains. We also cooperate with Lavina from Osijek, so thanks to them our vegetables are available in the entire Osijek-Baranja county - director Darko Filakov told us. In addition to all that, Stipo adds, they also own a store in Osijek where they sell Croatian products, with an emphasis on local fruits and vegetables.
