It is an archaeological zone that was built between 1150 and 1350 A.D. It is located about 600 meters from the valley of Tepoztlan. Its name comes from "Tepozt-tli" which means Copper and "Tlan" which means place or abundance.

God Tepoztecatl: an Aztec deity of pulque, intoxication and fertility.

WHY IS IT A MAGICAL TOWN?

It is considered a magical town thanks to its history and tradition, famous for the remains of the pyramid built on top of the Tepozteco mountain, its gastronomy and its handicrafts.

Tepoztlán was named a magical town in 2002, lost the title in 2009 for not complying with the regulations, however, it regained this designation in 2010 and is one of the most popular destinations near Mexico City.

It’s located in the north of the state of Morelos.

Tepoztlan is bordered to the north by Mexico City, to the south by the towns of Yautepec and Jiutepec, to the east by Tlalnepantla and Tlayacapan, to the west by the city of Cuernavaca.
