HOW DO I CHOOSE CLASSES?

Credit Requirements

You must schedule a minimum of 5.5 credits for each school year. To graduate from CCA, you need a minimum of 21 credits. Along with earned 21 credits, there are certain classes you must take to fulfill this number.

English courses are 1 credit each and match the grade level for the student.

Mathematics (3 credits)

Math courses are 1 credit each. You must take and pass Algebra 1. Then, you will choose 2 other math credits.

Social Studies (3 credits)

Social Studies courses are 1 credit each. You must take and pass US History and American Government. The third credit will be your choice.

Personal Finance (0.5 credit)

Career Planning (1 credit)

In grade 11 or 12, you must take and pass Personal Finance. If you take and pass Consumer Math this can serve ad your Personal Finance requirement.

Grade 9 - Career Planning 9 Grade 10 - Career Planning 10 Grade 11 - Career Planning 11 Grade 12 - Career Planning 12* Each course is worth 0.25 credits. *CP 12 is required for graduation

Trying to figure out your path for math? Find which math you are in this year and then select the course down. Or select an electiveFor example:

• If you are in Algebra I as a 9th grader, you should choose Geometry for your 10th grade year.

• If you are in Algebra 1A as a 10th grader, you should choose Algebra 1B for your 11th grade year.

• Will science be important in your program or job?

• go into a medical field (doctor, nurse, respiratory therapist, veterinary technician, ...)
• go into a research field (microbiologist, chemical engineer, archaeologist, lab technician, ...)
• go into a math or technology field (statistics, computer engineering, cybersecurity...)
