L'ALTOFORNO

introduzione: che cos'è?

L'ALTOFORNO è UN TIPO DI IMPIANTO UTILIZZATO NELL'INDUSTRIA SIDERURGICA PER PRODURRE GHISA PARTENDO DAL MINERALE FERROSO.

L'altoforno deve il suo nome alle dimensioni; può infatti raggiungere un'altezza di 11 metri (più di 50 m considerando anche il sovrastante sistema di caricamento) ed un diametro massimo di circa 12 metri.

L'interno dell'altoforno è formato da 4 parti: - Tino: riceve il materiale dall'esterno. - Ventre: in cui avviene il primo innalzamento di temperatura. - Sacca: in cui si raggiunge la massima temperatura e avviene la combustione. - Crogiolo: in cui si raccoglie la ghisa fusa. - Bocca di caricamento - Impianto di colata: la colata è ogni 2 o 4 ore; la ghisa viene inviata alle acciaierie.
