Japan has a culture that has been building on principles for thousands of years. First of all, honor and compassion. The friendliness of the Japanese, which in our eyes is almost stereotypical, is actually very ingrained in the communities.
Introduction
School in Japan plays a vital role for children.Japanese students assimilate from an early age the notions and values necessary for integration into the complex society: friendliness, respect, independence and collaboration. Although some Western elements have entered Japanese culture, the educational path of young people keeps its uniqueness alive.
AFTERNOON CLUBS
Japanese students are encouraged to take part in afternoon extracurricular activities, known as bukatsu, 部活. This happens as early as elementary school and continues through to university. The choice is very wide: there are traditional clubs such as Japanese martial arts (kendo, iaido, judo, aikido), tea ceremony (sado), flower arrangement (kado), Japanese chess (shogi);
There are a lot of sports from the Western world such as tennis, lacrosse, theater, music, drawing, computer science...

VOLLEYBALL
In addition to the ceremonies at the beginning and end of the school year, Japanese schools are preparing for the Festival of Culture (bunkasai, 文化祭) and the Festival of Sports (taikusai, 体育祭). These are two events that are eagerly awaited by students who, without the help of teachers, have to organize the events themselves. So the collaboration and independence are essential to choose and develop the common theme to be dealt with.
special events
There are student competitions in various athletic activities – from simple running to shoulder wrestling – ending with a great choreographic performance. On both occasions one or more classes are awarded as winners.
FOOD
For the Japanese, it is essential to eat a healthy and balanced diet. In the schools, meals are prepared by experienced chefs who carefully select the ingredients. These must always be fresh, sometimes coming from the school itself. Even the materials used in the canteen – such as the crockery – are subject to very strict hygiene controls that ensure total safety during the consumption of meals.
school uniform
The school uniform has the task of positively enhancing the sense of belonging and integration into the community. In Japan, conformity and equality are core values. For this reason, at school each student receives a uniform to use during sports activities and a different one to wear in class. In both cases, outfits are provided for the summer and winter periods.
the educational path
The educational path goes from kindergarten to university. But how long is school in Japan? 13 years of school in total, if we also consider kindergarten.
Japanese schools are divided into public and private institutions. The private schools are often very prestigious and, although paid, are often chosen by the less well-off classes as well. This is because entering a structure recognized for its excellence allows you to more easily access higher education institutions that ensure a good job and a comfortable life. As a result, you plan the educational path for your children from kindergarten.
Japanese schools are equipped with spaces dedicated to a large number of activities and state-of-the-art equipment. Almost all schools are equipped with gymnasiums and football or basketball courts. Often, students can even borrow electronic items such as iPads or computers. In general, both the school environments and the tools provided are in very good condition.
Structure
primary school
When does school start in Japan? The Japanese school year usually starts in April and ends in March. It is interspersed with the spring holidays, the period in which we witness the cherry blossom that in Japanese culture represents a new beginning. In addition to this interruption, there are 3 or 4 other periods of break from classes, along with national holidays and school events.
middle school
From July to August, the summer holidays allow students to relax and enjoy the summer, between the sea, the mountains and the various festivals (omatsuri) partly organized by the school. However, some young people prefer to continue studying during the summer as well. Generally, the winter holidays run from December 27 to early January and are dedicated to traditional activities, mostly Shinto. On the first of January, for example, people go to the temple to pray and
