Elements that supply the electrical energy needed for the electrons to move through the circuits.

The elements that operate the circuit, which means that they are un charge of the flow of the electric current.

Conductors

Components that transport the electric current from the power sources to the load devices.

Circuits with semiconducting components

Passive components

They are unable to act on the circuit. They have a linear behaviour, wich means that they have a straight current-voltage characteristic curve (the Ohm's law is met).

Active components

They act on the circuit by amplifiying or modifiying the flow of the current. They have a non-linear behaviour, which means that they don't have a straight current-voltage characteristic curve (the Ohm's law is not met).
