Attention

Executive functions

Memory

It is the ability of actively processing specific information, while ignoring distractors in the surrounding. Children with attentional problems may find it difficult to sustain or shift their attention, frequently make careless mistakes, fail to complete tasks, and struggle to stay organised.

Executive functions are a set of cognitive processes – involving areas such as cognitive flexibility, inhibitory control, and reasoning ,that help us learn new information, plan our time, inhibit impulses, and solve problems.

Children with memory deficits may struggle with learning, fail to plan more than one step ahead, forget appointments or activities, loose the thread in social conversations, and have trouble creating a coherent sense of self.
