The River Jadro - presentation

The River Jadro rises at the foot of Mosor and it is an important source of water for our county.

The River Jadro - Vistitor centre

On 13th March we visited the River Jadro - excursion site park. The visitor centre is eco-friendly site with green roof. Green Technology applications have also been installed in the centre. Students watched a documentary film in which experts talk about the River Jadro and the flora and fauna around the river.

The existing bunker from the Second World Wae has been converted into the Interpretation centre. On the walls threre are information panels about"The Solinka" - the softmouthtrout which is an endangered specie.

Workshop - Touch the River

There are ten "Knowledge platforms" that contains the complete story of the River Jadro.

Then, we had a workshop about the River Jadro. Students mesured the temperature of the water, explored the water cycle and the issues of water managment. The pupils looked how the environment of the river has changed over the time. They also invastigete how pollution and other human impacts can pose a danger to living things in water. The also explored environmental issuses and try to find solutions to help a sustainable future for the River Jadro.

The students watched a presentation about Water Day and they made activities and worksheets. It was very interesting!

Mimaroba Secondary School 7th grade students analyzed Büyükçekmece lake water within the scope of World Water Day. They compared drinking water and lake water. Living organisms were found in the lake water.

As part of World Water Day, our students went to Büyükçekmece Lake and took water samples, analyzed them in the school science laboratory and compared them with drinking water. They measured the pH value of the water and observed microorganisms.

Water Day Activities

Students watched a presentation on "Water Day" prepared by teacher Tina Parac. They learned the importance of water and how we can save it.

Students did some activities after the presentation on water day: true or false exercise; how we can save water and a wordsearch.

After that they fiiled in a Form with the evaluation of this activity on their computers.

On the 22 nd of March an Engineer visited our school and talked about the importance of saving water and how wastewater treatment plant and water purification plant treat polluted water that goes into the rivers. It was very interesting!

My students prepared two videos with examples of saving water in our daily lives!

Water Day -collaborative lesson and worksheets

World Water Day The 4th grade students of the 12th Primary School of Kozani did different activities to understand the importance of Water for every living species on Earth. We watched the presentation, worked on some worksheets, made a collage on how to save water in our everyday life and finally visited the Hydroelectric Power Plant in the area of Kozani to understand how electricity is produced with the help of water. We saw the river, the damn and played some educational games dealing with water pollution and bioaccumolation. The visit was carried out together with the 6th grade students at school who participate in the project as well.
