'The King's Friends' was the party he created and he appointed his own PM, Lord North. They imposed heavy taxation on the American colonies.
A street brawl between colonists and a British soldier developed into a bloody slaughter. It turned into anti-British sentiments and led them to fight for independence.
The colonists destroyed a shipment of tea sent by the East India Company in protest against the Tea Act.
Boston, 1775: the American Revolutionary War began July, 4 1776: America, supported by France and Spain declared its independence from Great Britain Yorktown, Virginia 1781: the 'Continental Army' led by George Washington won over the British Army.
The French Revolution was against the old social order. Its ideals were: equality, fraternity, liberty. It attacked absolute monarchy and the privileges of the aristocracy.

The naval battle of Trafalgar was fought off the south-west coast of Spain, and Admiral Horatio Nelson won with his British Navy over Napoleon's fleet. Napoleon would never invade Britain, Nelson lost his own life in the battle.
They lasted 15 years, during which Napoleon conquered much of Europe, and Britain led six coalitions. 1812: a disastrous invasion of Russia marked his decline. 1814: Napoleon was defeated by England's allies (Austria, Prussia and Russia).
