John Dunlop, l’inventeur du premier pneu gonflé à l’air est un Irlandais : John Boyd Dunlop. C’est en observant son fils faire du vélo qu’il a eu son idée . En 1888, il déposera un brevet pour son invention et en 1889 il fondera à Dublin la toute première manufacture de pneumatiques au monde, baptisée “Dunlop”. Les pneumatiques vont bientôt également venir équiper les voitures.

Saint Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious celebration that happens on March 17th. Saint Patrick, a Christian missionary, brought Christianity to the Irish people. St. Patrick’s Day is the national holiday of Ireland. It has become a holiday all around the world and, for one day, people wear green and eat corned beef and cabbage. Green represents Ireland. Green is also one of the three colors on the flag of Ireland. According to tradition, if you don’t wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, a leprechaun will pinch you. The leprechaun is a small Irish fairy. He is dressed with pointed shoes and hat. Leprechauns are unfriendly little men who live alone in the forest, making shoes. They keep their gold coins in large pots. If you follow a leprechaun, you could discover his treasure. The shamrock is worn as a badge. Three is Ireland’s magic number and the three petals of the shamrock are supposed to bring good luck.
