VERB + INFINITIVE or gerund

Some verbs (love, like, hate, prefer, start,begin) can be followed by gerund (ing) or an infinitive without a change in meaning.

examples:

  • i love to chat online / i love chating online
  • she likes to eat pizza/she likes eating pizza

With other verbs (forget, remember,stop,try) the meaning changes.

examples:

  • I stopped taking selfies (never)
  • i stopped to take selfie (moment)
  • she forgot calling her friend
  • she forgot to call her friend
