Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object which is at the upper or lower limit of quality. They are used in sentences where a subject is compared to a group of objects.

Spelling rule: If the adjective has a consonant + single vowel + consonant, the final consonant must be doubled before adding the suffix.

We add the suffix: -est to the superlative.

Note: We add the article "the" before the superlative in sentences where we are comparing the subject to another object.

For the adjectives with 2 syllables, you can use "most" or in the simple form add the suffix -est.

The adjectives that end with "y" we change it for "i" and add the suffix -est

In adjectives with three or more syllables, we form the superlative by putting "most" before the adjective.
