The bassoon is an instrument that emerged the 17th century, which comes from the dulcian. A well-known instrument in most European countries, and which enjoyed great fame ecclesiastic and court musical courtesans.

It si built of maple wood. It sounds with a double cane, similar to the oboe but bigger.

There are two modern types of bassoon: German and French. In most of the world the German system is played, with France being the country where there is a great French bassoon school.
