SECOND GENERATION OF CONSOLES

The second generation of consoles was born around 1976 and was characterized by having iconic machines. Among these we can highlight the Fairchild Channel F console, the Atari 2600 and the Bally Astrocade.

SEVENTH GENERATION OF CONSOLES

The seventh generation were the most short-lived of all console generations. Still, this didn't stop them from introducing novel ideas about what the video game industry could become; and some of these are still in force today, EL RETURN EL NINTENDO, Microsoft and PlayStation, who did not hesitate to release their own version of motion capture technology.

FIRST GENERATION OF CONSOLES

The origins of the first generation of consoles probably date back to 1972 with the release of Magnavox Odyssey, created by video game pioneer Ralph Baer. This game couldn't display color, sound or basically anything beyond 3 moving dots on the screen, which were controlled by rudimentary keys connected to the TV.:

THIRD GENERATION OF CONSOLES

At the beginning of 1983, the so-called 8-bit console generation opened the doors to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console, the Atari 7800 and the Commodore 64. These are probably the first completely “modern” video game consoles. which many fans still appreciate.

EIGHTH GENERATION OF CONSOLES

This was the generation that defined innovation in video games. The eighth generation of consoles, which began around 2012 and brought us the Xbox One and the PS4, was the first era of the blockbuster game. The eighth generation of consoles, unquestionably, expanded video games and gamer culture to every corner, in addition to transforming its media landscape forever.

SIXTH GENERATION OF CONSOLES

Although the fifth was the 32-bit generation, its successor, the sixth generation, dazzled us with 128-bit technology, leaving behind what until now we believed that console generations could offer us. Thanks to this innovation, games became cheaper and more accessible, so individual game sales reached 10 million units for the first time in history. Without a doubt, it was one of the generations of consoles that displaced Nintendo. and Sega from its throne, while Sony and Microsoft tipped the balance in its favor with revolutionary titles such as Morrowind, Prince of Persia, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

FOURTH GENERATION OF CONSOLES

The fourth generation of video game consoles took color and graphics a few notches higher when 16-bit took over the industry in 1987.

FIFTH GENERATION OF CONSOLES

Of all the generations of video game consoles, it brought the adventure game genre to our screens for the first time. This era began around 1993 and, without a doubt, was completely defined by the PlayStation, as well as the Nintendo 64, although to a lesser extent.

NINTH GENERATION OF CONSOLES

The ninth generation of video game consoles is barely making itself felt. Currently, only the PS5 and Xbox Series S are in contention, and it's clear what this means. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and blockchain gaming continue to shape the development of this new generation of games, while influencing trends in browser games.
