- These counties will be major players in the rematch of President Biden and Former President Trump this November. - A potential predictor of how counties will vote depends on the type of speech that is normalized in the county/state. - So beware of the types of political messaging you come across between candidates, organizations and the public between now and November 5th.

What is a Pivot County?
- Pivot counties are also commonly called "swing counties" just like when you hear about swing states. - Pivot counties are defined as: counties that were identified to have voted for Obama (D) in 2008 and 2012, but than pivoted by voting for Donald Trump (R) in 2016. - There are two types of pivot counties: 1. Boomerang Counties: refers to when a county flipped from red to blue in the 2020 election (ex. from Trump to Biden). 25/206 pivot counties were boomerang counties. 2. Retained Counties: refers to when a county stayed with its former party affliation (ex. remained for Trump). 181/206 pivot counties were retained counties.
