Contexto Histórico

Abraham Maslow nació el 1 de abril de 1908 en Brooklyn, Nueva York, en una época de cambios significativos tanto en Estados Unidos como en el mundo. Estados Unidos experimentaba la era progresista, marcada por reformas sociales y políticas, mientras que en Europa se avecinaba la Primera Guerra Mundial.

El Mundo de la Psicologia

En el campo de la psicología, Maslow emergió en un momento de diversificación teórica. Mientras el psicoanálisis freudiano dominaba, el conductismo y el humanismo, representado por Maslow, Rogers y May, comenzaban a ganar terreno.

Teoría de la Jerarquía de las Necesidades

La contribución más famosa de Maslow es su teoría de la jerarquía de las necesidades, presentada en "Motivación y Personalidad" en 1954.

Esta teoría describe cómo las personas buscan satisfacer necesidades básicas antes de aspirar a necesidades más elevadas.
