History of Cubo

• Created by ion Media in partnership with Scholastic, NBC Universal, Corus Entertainment, and Classic Media + launched on September 6th, 2006
• Qubo website launched the same year and Qubo Channel launched on December 3rd, 2007
• 24-hour bilingual children's TV channel, broadcasted on satellite and TV broadcast networks in 34 states + D.C
• Broadcasted in Spanish and English across multiple channels aside from ion Media such as PBS, Sprout, Discovery Kids, and Telemundo Kids.
• By 2012, Comcast acquired NBC Universal, while NBC Universal acquired Telemundo (and later Classic Media) and created their own kids channels, thus making the Qubo channel a standalone channel on ion Media.

Cable vs. Non-Cable TV

• Non-cable TV, or broadcast TV used public airwaves, thus, the cost of owning a TV with 'no-cable' was little to none.
• Channels like PBS, Qubo, ion Media, and local TV news (e.g., WGN Chicago) are considered broadcast TV
• "Non-commercial channels" receive revenue through donations and other types of public support (e.g., "Thank you to viewers like you" - PBS

• Considered the major legacy workers

• Back in the early 2000s, cable TV was sold in "packages," with many general, news, and sports channels combined. This totaled to $100-200 on average for American households.

• Broadcast channels (or "commercial channels") like ESPN, ABC, and NBC receive revenue through advertising and use private media to transmit their content to TVs.

Popular Shows

VeggieTales and 3-2-1 Penguins! were Christian shows, however, U.S. broadcast guidelines blurred and edited religious scenes on the Qubo channel and affiliates, causing a controversy with Phil Vischer, VeggieTales' creator.

Qubo shows appeared on Telemundo, BBC, PBS, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and many more. Over 50+ dubbing in many languages

Qubo shows were also broadcasted in different parts of the world in accordance with the local broadcasting networks of that country.

What Caused Qubo's Decline?

Qubo suffered a major drop after NBC, Telemundo, and Corus Entertainment dropped out of the deal to produce their kid blocks on their channels. The lack of branching out to social media through apps and YouTube, as well as the inability to be broadcast in major cities/states were Qubo's main culprit in their decline.

• Aired on Qubo from 2007-2020
• The show is Canadian-Japanese and has its own "anime" opening and outro in the Japanese version.

Class of The Titans

Jay, Herry, Theresa, Odie, Neil Archie, and Atlanta — 7 teenagers, descendants of Ancient Greek heroes are prophecized to defeat Cronus, the God of Time, and battle mythological monsters from world destruction with the help of the Gods.
