• After completing the training module, you will:
• Be able to list, in 10 minutes, all steps that need to be completed, using the slides, in order to properly pitch to a hospital.

• State background information and repeat the mission statement of the organization without error.
• Identify with 100% accuracy where to find answers to the most common questions that medical staff have about Team Impact.
• Use a presentation platform of your choice to design a personalized slideshow in order to convey the mission of Team Impact without fault to medical staff.
• Master using a clear voice and convincing tone to present content with the aid of an online presenter tool or peer

What is Team Impact?

THE BASICS: when presenting to medical staff it is important that you are familiar with the background of the organization as a whole

• Who We Are: Team Impact is a non-profit organization that pairs children with chronic illnesses or serious disabilities with college sports teams all across the country.
• Our Goal: To create a world where every child facing serious illness and disability feels supported by something bigger, and every team is transformed by a greater purpose.
• Who We Serve: Children with over 250 diagnoses are eligible to be matched.
• Eligibility Criteria:
• Children ages 5-16
• Diagnosed with a serious or chronic illness
• Could benefit, both socially and psychologically, from the support of a team

Making a Match

1. Here's what happens when a family is interested in being a part of Team Impact:
1. Psychosocial Assessment Conducted - to create an appropriate match for a child
2. Case Manager Match -
1. Communicate with families to determine goals for participation
2. Give guidance to coaches and team in order to provide them with insight in how to best communicate with their match
2. Once a child is approved this 2 year program involves:
1. An official signing day with the team
2. Getting to hang out with the team
3. Stopping in at team practices
4. Being a part of game day activities
5. And more!

Before we get into the nitty gritty of prepping the presentation, there are five key steps that must be completed ahead of time! Let's get an overview.

1. Communicate with Team Impact to Connect With Medical Staff at Local Children's Hospital

At this point, you are probably wondering how you set up the gig to speak with medical staff. Are you a little intimidated? Don't be! Team Impact Executive members will initiate the initial conversation. They will be in charge of:

• Seeking out a children's hospital near you
• Finding a contact that is in support of the presentation and willing to communicate with staff to coordinate a visit
• Making initial connection between you and the medical staff contact

Why are we Presenting?

As you already know, we have Fellows strategically placed at each campus in order to build support among the teams on campus. But, for all the teams that we get on board, we are in need of kids in the community who fit the criteria and are interested in the experience. We love partnering with the hospitals so they can be an extra set of eyes and ears when it comes to recruiting kids and families that might be good candidates for Team Impact!

3. Create/Utilize a Slidedeck to Display Key Talking Points

When it comes to presenting, the media tool is up to you! I would suggest some sort of slide deck. Some suggestions might be PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Canva!

4. Familiarize Yourself With the Slideshow Content - Practice Presentation Using Notecards

Before you begin practicing your presentation utilizing your newly created slide deck, I would recommend created a few notecards, outlining your presentation. These should include key points as cues to remember while speaking!

Next, practice your presentation in front of an audience! If you don't have access to friends for feedback, there are a few other options:

• Record yourself presenting, watch, and make modifications
• Utilize an online presenting tool such as Orai to get feedback!

5. Bring a treat!

Whatever you bring doesn't have to be super fancy, or feed the entire staff. It is a sweet gesture to show that you care! Remember to provide something that is store bought and pre-packaged!

Don't forget to save your receipts to be reimbursed by Team Impact!

Checklist for TI Presentation

• Communicate with Team Impact Staff to make a connection with medical staff at local children’s hospital

• Tell an engaging TI story

• Inform of role of medical professional
• Highlight the reciprocal benefits
• Tell another touching story about a match

When talking about Team Impact, utilize the slides in Unit 1 to build basic background knowledge. Add information including but not limited to:

• What Team Impact is
• What the match situation looks like on your campus (how many you have, how many teams are on the waitlist, etc.)
