¿What is the Simple Past Tense?
Structure of the Simple Past:
Affirmative Statements: Subject + Verb (past tense) + Object/Complement
Example: He played soccer yesterday. She finished her homework last night.
Structure of the Simple Past:
Negative Statements: Subject + Did not + Verb (base form) + Object/Complement
Example: They did not play soccer yesterday. She did not finish her homework last night.
Structure of the Simple Past:
Questions: Did + Subject + Verb (base form) + Object/Complement?
Example: Did they play soccer yesterday? Did she finish her homework last night?
Característics of the Simple Past:
Completed Actions in the Past: The Simple Past is used to talk about actions that started and finished in the past
For example: I watched a movie last night. (Vi una película anoche.)
Característics of the Simple Past:
Irregular Verbs: Some verbs have irregular past tense forms, such as "go" (went), "eat" (ate), "see" (saw), etc.
The Simple Past tense is used to talk about actions that were completed in the past, regardless of their duration.
