How to form the past simple?

Regular verbs

Add an -ed at the end of the verb • call --> called • wait --> waited If the verb ends in -e, just add a -d • like --> liked • hate --> hated

When the verb ends in -y: If before the -y there is a cosonant, change the -y for an -i and add -ed • marry --> married • study --> studied If before the -y there is a vowel, just add -ed • play --> played • enjoy --> enjoyed
