Components of mobiles phones

Mobile phones are made up of several components, such as:

  1. Processor: is responsible for processing data and performing various operations. Also, acts as the brain of the phone.
  2. RAM and flash memory: it's the operational memory that stores the data that the processor is working with at that moment.
  3. Screen: it's the component that allows us to display graphics and content on the phone screen.
  4. Battery: it's the component that charges the mobile when it has little energy left.
  5. GPS module: allows us to use navigation and locate our position on a map.
  6. Sensors: allow you to recognize movement, direct the phone or adjust the screen brightness depending on lighting conditions.

How does it affect the environment?

Mining smartphone components has devastating consequences for the environment. Gold mining used in mobile phones is one of the main causes of deforestation in the Amazon. In addition, the gold mining process also generates toxic cyanide and mercury waste. Which are mostly arsenic, antimony, beryllium, lead, nickel and zinc, or heavy metals such as lead, cadmium or mercury, which affect the environment massively and without control. So we have to try to reduce the use of cell phones and think more about how many cell phones we buy and if it is really necessary to buy a new one.
