What is the CFA?
The CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation is recognized as the highest distinction in finance globally. It provides a solid foundation in advanced investment analysis and practical portfolio management, offering a significant career advantage. To earn the CFA charter, candidates must (1) pass three rigorous examinations and (2) demonstrate at least three years of relevant professional experience. Preparing for the CFA exams requires substantial effort, with candidates reporting an average of 350 study hours per level. Neoma Business School has been part of the CFA University Affiliation Program for 20 years. At Neoma BS, students in the PGE/MIM program can begin the CFA track in September of their M1 year. M1 students focus on preparing for the CFA Level I exam during the Fall semester. M2/MSc students then move on to prepare for the CFA Level II exam, with the option to prepare for CFA Level III as well. It’s important to note that CFA exams are external and independent of Neoma BS, requiring candidates to register directly with the CFA Institute to take the exams.

Registration costs
Since 2021, all CFA examinations are computer-based instead of paper-based.The CFA Institute offers Level I CFA Program computer-based testing in four sessions each year: February, May, August, and November. Each session contains several days during which candidates can sit for the exam.
Registering for the CFA Level I exam is solely your responsibility. You have to choose a session among the four offered: February, May, September, and December. The CFA Institute has early-bird registrations; for example, if you register before the end of October for the following May exam, you will pay less than if you register in December. You will likely register for the February or May session of the year following your CFA Programme in the Fall semester. 2026 exam registration fees are: - Early registration fee: $ 1140
- Standard registration fee: $ 1490
VAT taxes might be applied to your fee

Studying materialMost students do not use CFA official studying books. After years of using Kaplan Schweser, Neoma has changed providers and we have selected AnalystPrep for several reasons, the quality/price being at the forefront. Please note that we are just the go-between for the AnalystPrep orders; we take absolutely no commission. You will make a payment directly to them. When in the CFA Track, contact Eva ZAJICEK <eva.zajicek@neoma-bs.fr> for more information. Price in 2024 was 100€ for the full package. Note also that you do not necessarily have to study with AnalystPrep notes. You may use the official curriculum books from the CFA Institute or other providers such as Wiley, Bloomberg, Kaplan, etc.

Entrance examen contents
Find below the three readings (chapters) for the entrance exam. They are taken from the CFA Level I curriculum:
- QUANTITATIVE METHODS : The Time Value of Money
- EQUITY : Equity Valuation: Concepts and Basic Tools
- PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT : Portfolio Risk and Return Part 1
- Students often use study notes providers such as (Kaplan Schweser , AnalystPrep, Mark Meldrum...) to study and prepare for the CFA Level I examination (they are summary notes of the official curriculum). It is faster to study with them. If you are able to procure these three chapters from a provider (Kaplan Schweser books are available at Neoma from the Library or from a former student) you can also use them to prepare for the entrance exam. It is not necessary to purchase them at this early stage, as the CFA official curriculum is updated every year.
- Investopedia gives you an overview of the curriculum
- YouTube also provides you with videos on most CFA Level 1 topics
