Personalities
High - flyers
talented, determined, capable, and gifted
Despite having these qualities, they are easily bored, over-ambitious, ruthless, secretive, and impatient. They may have no balance in their lives.
Highflyers need new challenges. Encourage them to show empathy and understanding to other team members. Be direct if they show impatience and stress the importance of balance to achieve success.
Underachievers
Underachievers don’t reach their true potential, so they can cause frustration to coaches like you.
An underachiever may fear failure, lack confidence, or ambition, be lazy, or display a poor attitude at work.
Underachievers need help with their confidence levels and help with taking risks. Determine the source of a poor attitude and get them to face it. Gradual improvements will be made over time. Be patient.
Plodders
Plodders work steadily but with little enthusiasm or interest for what they do.
They don’t inspire but they don’t cause problems either. Although content, they lack the potential shown by the underachiever.
Plodders are often coerced into coaching or only take part if the rest of the team is coached. There’s a limit to what you can do for them. The best approach is to concentrate on one thing they enjoy most and allow them to work in a niche.
