Animal Prosthetics
You and your group will have the opportunity to design a prosthetic for a maimed stuffed animal. The design must meet the needs of the animal.Your team will now discuss is: What injury will you design a prosthetic for?
STEM Design Challenge
Design an Animal Prosthetic
Requires careful thought, consideration, and several activities to get the right fit for your patient You will work with your group on three activities to arrive at the finished product. As you do, make sure you communicate and collaborate on progress.
STEM Design Challenge
Design an Animal Prosthetic
As your group evaluates the patient, draw a sketch in your packet of what the prosthetic should look like. All measurements should be accurate and in mm, with all features labeled and displayed on sketch. No need to be Picasso…but also no stick figures!
Activity 1: Sketch the Prosthetic
Design an Animal Prosthetic
Using your sketch and the PlayDoh at your table, construct a 3D model of your prosthetic and means of attachment. Make sure you are precise with measurements (model should be to scale) and do your best with pronounced features.
Activity 2: Create a Physical Model
Design an Animal Prosthetic
You will now create a 3D print of your design using your sketch and PlayDoh model. Login to Tinkercad (https://www.tinkercad.com) and create your draft. Save as .STL file, transfer to flash drive from Downloads, then give to me for 3D printing.
