- Issued the Proclamation of Amnesty & REconstruction following the CIvil War in attempts to reunite our broken country. -Signed the Morrill Act, leading to the creation of numerous univeristies & setting the precedent for higher education in America.

- Signed into law Homestead ACt of 1862, thus allowing Americams to acquire affordable public land. - His signing of the Emancipation Proclamation ushered in the 13th Amendment, making slavery in America illegal permantly. - Delivered the Gettysburg Address, reaffirming America's creed as displayed by the Declaration of Independence.

Failures of Abe Lincoln

-Chose numerous generals fpr the Union army who later turned out to be ill-suited for responsibilities that came withthe job.- Although he signed the Emancipation Proclamtion, abolishing slavery was not his first priority. - The Emancipation Proclamation only applied to Southern States in Rebellion, Lincon still believed in white superority and opposed nterracial relationship.

- Before his Presidential Election, he was defeated while running for Senate twice.- he imposed censorship during the war by ordering a military takeover of two newspapers that wrote distasteful things about his administartion. - Suspened habeas corpus, leading to the arrests & imprisonment of thousands without due process of the law.
