The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain. It has four lobes. Let's learn about each lobe. Put your mouse on a color.
We will learn about these brain parts on the next slide.
The brain also has a cerebellum and a brainstem. Put your mouse on the bottom of the brain to learn about these parts.

The (so-mah-tik) somatic nervous system controls your senses of touch, sound, taste, and smell. This system also controls movements you can control. These are called voluntary movements.

15

What are some movements that you can control? ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________

16

The (aw-toe-nuh-mik) autonomic nervous system controls involuntary movement. You cannot control involuntary movement.

17

What are some things that happen in your body that you cannot control? ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________

18

There are two parts to the (aw-toe-nuh-mik) autonomic nervous system: the (sim-puh-theh-tik) sympathetic nervous system and the (peh-ruh-sim-puh-theh-tik) parasympathetic nervous system.

19

The (sim-puh-theh-tik) sympathetic nervous system becomes active whenever you feel scared or stressed. This system is called the "fight or flight" system.

20

The (peh-ruh-sim-puh-theh-tik) parasympathetic nervous system restores your body to normal. This system is called the "rest and digest" system. It calms the body down after a "fight or flight" event.
