• Became assistant to the German physicist Max Wien in 1921
• Became professor in Breslau then in Zurich (1921)
• Left Germany because of nazism before working with Max Plank (1927-1933)
• Received Nobel Prizes for Physics (Oxford University)
• Returned to Austria in 1936 and became director of a school theoreticca physics in Dublin

a mathematical formulation of wave mechanics that remains the most wiely used tool in quantum mechanics. He demonstrated the equivalence of his equation with Heisenberg's matrix mechanics

• Australian physicist and philosopher born in Vienna on 12 August 1887 and died of tuberculosis (1961)
• Entered the Kademisches Gymnasium in 1898 , studied in Vienna (1906- 1910) under Franz-Serafin Exner and Fredrch Hasenöhrl.
• Obtained his doctorate in theoretical physics in 1910
• Became artillery officer in 1914 (WW1)
• Married Annemarie Bertel on 6 April 1920

It highlights the divide between the quantum world, where an object can be in several states at once, and the macroscopic, deterministic world.
