Personal statement

Currently I am studying UAL level 3 diploma in performing and production arts at city and Islington college. In this course I am learning different skills that will help me enhance my knowledge in performance and prepare myself for the industry, though there are many more skills I want to learn and develop so I have various skills that will help me not only in my future career but also in life. Since the early age of 5, I have always had a passion for performance, mainly the singing aspect of it. My mother used to have the dream of being a dancer and studied dance throughout her time in education. She inspired me to become a part of the arts. Performance has always been my comfort zone, something I go to when I need a distraction. When I perform, I feel I can be myself without feeling influenced or pressured by my surroundings. It is a safe space for many, including me. For me, the arts are a space where you can be free and creative with many fun experiences. Since I started watching TV, I began to feel drawn to horror movies, which intrigued me as I then wanted a career in the industry. I joined an afterschool dance club in primary which led me to auditioning for a place in a choreography that was going to be performed at the Arts Depot in North Finchley. I only thought of it as a hobby at first, something I did when I wanted to escape reality, however this passion for performance only grew stronger as I grew up, becoming a daily part of my life until it led me to this course that I now take in this college. This course has provided me with a steady foundation of skills that I am able to apply to not only my lessons and performances but also my daily life.

Thank you!!
