Past simple tense

We use the past simple to talk about events/ actions that happened in the past; if we want to talk or write in English by using past simple, we have to follow the next structures

Affirmative sentences

We use the following structure: Subject + verb in past + complement We did the homework Jane went to the school They bought an ice cream Joe called his mom

Negative sentences

We use the following structure: Subject + aux(did not) + VERB IN BASE + complement contraction: did not = didn’t I did not do my homework last monday Carlos did not study English at the University They didn’t write the essay last week Danna didn’t cook food yesterday afternoon

Interrogative sentences

We use the following structure: Auxiliar ( did) + subject + verb in base + complement? did you visit Tijuana? yes, I did / no, I didn't ---- answers Did Karla play video games? yes, she did / No, she didn't -- answers Did your brother eat a hot dog? yes, he did / No, he didn't -- answers

Fill in the blanks with the SIMPLE PAST of the verbs in brackets:
