LEARNING GOAL

I will correctly form and use plural nouns and possessive nouns in sentences, demonstrating understanding of the rules for adding -s, -es, and -ies to form plurals, and using 's and s' to indicate possession.

What ARE PluralS ?

PLURALS are forms of nouns that indicates more than one person, place, thing or idea. Most singular nouns are made plural by adding a suffix, usually –s or –es. For example, the singular noun dog takes the plural form dogs, as in three dogs.

Irregular plurals

Irregular plural nouns are nouns that do not become plural by adding -s or -es, as most nouns in the English language do. You’re probably familiar with many of these already. For example, the plural form of man is men, not mans. The plural form of woman is women, not womans.

WHAT ARE POSSESSIVES?

A possessive noun is a noun that shows ownership, usually identified by ’s. For example, in the phrase the student’s notes, the word student’s is a possessive noun, showing that the notes belong to the student.
