What is fake news?

Nov, 20XX
2 of 5

The term is used to describe false information disseminated mainly on social media. There are cases of sensationalism to attract visits to websites and, thus, earn money from advertising. Fake news is also used to reinforce a thought, through lies and the dissemination of intolerance, destroying people, companies or affecting democratic institutions, which happens, above all, during election periods. This is misinformation: whether intentional lies or unverified content. Opposed to news, they mix with it, putting free and informative debate at risk.
