We introduce ourselves
Hi! We are Year 4 of primary education from CRA Entreviñas in Fuensaldaña. Our village is near Valladolid. We want to tell you how the wine cellars are and what they are used for.
Safety
To arrive to the wine cellars, we walk on the pavement keeping away from roads. That means, we avoid to be hit by a car. We cross at the zebra crossing. Before crossing the road, we look both ways to be sure any car is approaching. There are some hiking routes through the hills. They are called "SENDEROS del CLARETE" (Typical wine from this region).
Monuments
SAN CIPRIANO church: It was built between XIII and XVII centuries. It has got a main nave, chapels and a choir. The tower is built with stones and bricks.
The CASTLE was built at the middle of XV century by the Vivero's family. The Catholic Kings had there their honeymoon. It was settled as Court of Castilla y León from 1984 to 2006. Nowadays, it is a touristic place to visit with an exposition about castles.

First part-Wine cellar
There are several wine cellars in Fuensaldaña. Some of them are used to elaborate and sell wine. Others are restaurants and quite a few are just for the use of their own families. They are buried at the ground to take advantage of the cool temperature and keep the wine.
The WINE CELLARS from Fuensaldaña, belong to Cigales certificate of origin.
Second part-wine cellar
There are some areas with wine cellars. This is the wine cellar of Guillermo's grandfather in "PAGO DE LA HORCA".
It is a familiar cave. They elaborated their own wine and drank it in familiar meals.
Third part - wine cellar: THE LAGAR
Here, we are watching the LAGAR. They are windows in the roof of the buried cave. They were used to throw the bunch of grapes harvest.
The grape falls. Later, it is crushed with the feet to obtain the juice, which is called "mosto".
Machines and tools 1
This is a DESPALILLADORA.
This is a complex machine, which function, is to separate the BUNCH from the GRAPES.
Machines and tools 2
The HUSILLO: Simple machine that turns. The beam goes down and it squashes the PRESS.
The PRESS squashes the grapes (as a squeezer). The grape juice goes down: it is the MOSTO. It can be drank.
Machines and tools 3
In the past, the MOSTO was introduced in the CUBA (barrel), which was made by OAK WOOD.
Nowadays, it is transported to a tank , made of METAL.
We hope you learn a lot and you like it, as much as we did it when we created this presentation.
