This part of the MRI Scanner is known as the MAGNET. The magnet helps produce the strong magnetic field which surrounds the patient as they are scanned. Moreover, this tool of the MRI causes the atoms in the body to align, an essential part of the scan. Without the magnet, the MRI machine would not work, as this part plays a crucial role in the scanning of the human body and tissue.

This part of the MRI Scanner is called the GRADIENT COILS. Its main function is to spatially modulate the main magnetic field in a predictable way, thereby causing the Larmor frequency of spins to vary as a function of position.

This part of the MRI Scanner is called the BORE. The bore on the MRI scanner is the cylendrical tunnel through which the patient passes during the imaging process. It is designed to accomodate patients comfortably while allowing the scanner to capture detailed images of the body.

This part of the MRI Scanner is called the SAMPLE TABLE. This part can move the patient during the exam, so it must pass the highest safety requirements. In other words, it is where the patient lies so that the machine and its parts can function properly in the body.

This part of the MRI Scanner is called the RADIO FREQUENCY COILS. These coils produce an RF pulse that only lasts a moment during the MRI scan. The RF pulse disrupts the alignment of atoms caused by the magnet, and helps measure the "relaxation time" to provide a signal that can be measured by the scanner. Scientists use these signals to create images of specific tissues in the body.
